Out of the blue the truck stalled and set a P0335 crankshaft position sensor circuit. He swapped out crank sensor with a new ac delco sensor. Pinching the return line isn't always enough. The injectors need a good bit of pressure to fire. If you apply a little bit of air pressure to the return line, and crank it, that will be your best chance of getting it to fire up quicker. Yes that could quite possibly be the problem. Try removing all aftermarket programs/chips and see if that fixes your no start. It will lope hard if it starts, But it's an idea. Or you can try to pressurize the tank with about 10psi and try starting the truck.
