With the 2.1 Update to Conan Exiles, the crafting speed benefits for blacksmiths have been erased, as this has been baked into the various blacksmith crafting benches. Purge thralls do not have any additional benefit whatsoever, beyond their specializations.

Campaign bench increases speed with no benefit to cost (it doesn’t increase cost, just doesn’t reduce it either). The conversion recipe has always been 1 iron rein + 1 steel fire -> 1 steel rein.
Using Improved, you get 1 Steel for 1 iron (reinforcement conversion) but it takes a very long time. Campaign is a lot faster, but leads to you getting 1 Steel from 4 iron using the same method. I use garrison but that’s because I’m a two man clan so I farm less and let it sit overnight.
