You are actually just clearing the merchant inventory from the Khajiit caravan that travels between Dawnstar and Riften. You would find their inventory empty, if you wish to trade with them. Merchants will reset after 2 days, but not if you are hanging around. To reset this chest you will have to leave the area for 2 days.I think one of my mods might have patched it. #1.
