I was given my Grandparents '57 Magnificent Magnavox Console with AM/FM tuner and Imperial Record Changer. It is a vacuum tube Amp and Tuner. The console does work, but the last time it was used before it came into my possession was over 30 years ago. The electronics in your 288 look to be the same as those in the Model 295 I have. Amp150, and tuner/preamp 5201, and the Collaro changer. Unless it's cabinet is beyond repair, any tube Magnavox console now should be treated as a protected species. It's a nice console as it is, and it can be made with a Stereo cartridge wired for mono to play more modern records. This is a reasonably high quality console when running right, and biamped.
