As much as I love Fairbanks, my hometown, CHS isn’t where I go for scenery, necessarily. I do enjoy the drive there.

Re: fairbanks in march. Welcome to TA. March is an excellent time to visit Fairbanks. I was there last March. Take a look at some of the threads on the Fairbanks forum from last winter and you will get lots of ideas. Northern Lights are a possibility and though we were there for 5 nights, we never saw them.

It's worth it. I did the one that flew up from Fairbanks to a city passed arctic circle, then drove back in a big shuttle bus to Fairbanks. There's also dog sled tour. I didn't do it, but I got to visit the owner's place where there was about 50 friendly malamute dogs in his property.
