There is wear between the wheels/pulleys on which the saw blade rides and the bushings inside the wheels. To give some more info... I've cut mostly 1084 high carbon steel with this saw (annealed). I also use it to cut kydex, brass, wood, stainless, and mild steel... It's performed extremely well. Good blades will go a long way.
